What is a Warrant Canary?
A warrant canary is a method by which a service provider can inform users that they have not received secret government subpoenas. Many jurisdictions prohibit service providers from directly notifying users about government data requests due to gag orders.
By regularly publishing a statement that we have received zero requests, and updating it on a predictable schedule, the absence or staleness of such a statement serves as a warning signal to our users.
